My First Post on Caffeine
Today, I am writing my first post on Caffeine use. I love caffeine. It is great. First thing's first: safety. For adults aged 18+, it is safe to consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day. A typical cup of coffee contains about 100 milligrams of caffeine. For energy drinks, energy shots and such, there is usually a label on the back saying how many milligrams of caffeine are contained in the beverage. My journey with caffeine first started when I was young. I don't even really remember the age at which my parents first started letting me have sips of their coffee. I was probably about twelve or thirteen when I started drinking full cups of coffee. At fourteen, I started experimenting with energy drinks. I don't recommend people start using energy drinks at the same age I did. Although there are very few laws preventing minors from purchasing and consuming energy drinks, minors really shouldn't be consuming them. They tend to be more potent than coffee, have more sugar, and often have other stimulants added like guarana, taurine, b-vitamins, and ginseng that can have negative effects on health. Energy drinks can negatively affect the health of anyone of any age, but they should only be used by adults who have decided that they are willing to take that educated risk. This goes with all caffeinated products and beverages. If a minor does consume caffeine, I believe that they should do so under parental guidance. Last week, on Thursday September 19, 2024, I didn't consume any caffeine. Why? I just simply didn't feel like I needed it. In the next post I will describe what I consumed on Friday.
